How high do you hang a chandelier over a Dining Table? How do I figure the size of the chandelier for my dining table?

The general consensus is that a chandelier should hang 5 to 5 1/2 feet off the floor or 30″ above a dining table. Any lower and the chandelier will obstruct sight lines across the table. When it comes to size, figure that the chandelier should measure 1/2 to 2/3 the width of a table. That means a chandelier over a 60″ round table should be between 30-40″ wide.
